Singing Hi Jiggy Jig Learning Activities

Music

  • Explore ways to use body percussion e.g. clapping hands; slapping knees; tapping chest etc.
  • Divide the children into two groups. Each group chooses their ‘body percussion sound.’
  • Play the song – one group plays to the beat (steady pulse) of the song and the other group plays to the rhythm (short and long sounds that fit over an underlying beat) of the song.

Drama

  • Use an imaginary instrument in an orchestra and mime the actions for others to guess e.g. drums, violin, flute etc.
