Music

  • Listen to the song and learn the words. With a partner have turns at singing the different parts e.g. the person who asks the question and the person who answers the question.

Drama

  • Create your own "cat scene" - can others guess what the cat is doing? E.g. drinking milk, stretching, licking itself clean etc.

Dance

  • Build a cat movement vocabulary e.g. stretching, pouncing, creeping, stalking, pouncing, playing, running etc.
  • Teacher plays an appropriate tempo on a drum (or taps a desk) to match the move and calls out “stretching” – slow beat; “stalking” - slow beat gradually increase the speed of the beat and say “pounce”; “running” – fast beat etc.

Literacy

  • Sing and read along to the YouTube song to achieve multi-sensory learning “Do it, see it and hear it!”

  • Read the song lyrics – ask children a variety of questions.
  • Re-read the song lyrics and ask children to join in.
  • Recognise and use a variety of punctuation when reading. “ ” ! ? . ,
  • Look at print and conventions (bold, italics).
  • Talk about interesting/challenging words and discuss what they mean.
  • Word study – phonic knowledge, compound words, rhyming word, contractions etc.
