I'm sitting here thinking, it's puzzling me,
why when you feel blue, you feel unhappy?
I'm wearing my favourite blue overalls
and overhead a blue sky is smiling at me.
So blue doesn't really make me feel sad,
instead I am feeling, especially glad!

  • Fill 4 glasses with different quantities of water. Add blue dye or food colour to each of the glasses.
  • Order the glasses from high to low sounds.
  • Play the song and use a pencil to tap the glasses in time to the beat (steady pulse) or rhythm (the short and long sounds that fit over an underlying beat). Try and match the pitch (the degree of highness or lowness of a note) of the song.

  • Draw, paint or make a blue collage.


  • Sometimes we feel blue - which means you feel sad or unhappy.
  • Mime a scene which makes you feel sad or unhappy for others to guess.
